A bird of foreign descent whisks by my head, sending my black-blue hair fluttering in the sudden wind. I return Dios to its scabbard of scarlet leather, stand up from sitting on an uncomfortable rock, and stretch, my arms raised up to the alien sky. The sun I see is pure white, and my eyes become unfocused and inflamed upon gazing into its tremendous light. This is very disturbing; the star of my home world consists of clear infragilis crystals surrounding a molten core. The star I experience here appears to be without a shell—a pure core of energy, unbound and unshielded.
